A society required an app for the Australian Gastroenterology Week annual conference in October 2012 that would include abstracts and agendas, along with information on speakers, exhibitors and key events.

Wiley publishes a journal on behalf of the society and the aim was to distribute the app alongside the abstract supplement that Wiley was also producing for the conference.


Working closely with the client, the Wiley team designed and created all app content. Although the client had planned on using ScholarOne’s app offering, the extended functionality required meant that the EventMobi app platform was better suited to the task.


The app generated over 1,200 unique visits and 20,000 page views – with an average visit duration of over 20 minutes. Returning visitors accounted for 66% of traffic, with new visitors making up the balance.
